Hi everyone! My name is Tezzhan Murtazova; my students call me Ms. Tess. My hobbies are archaeology, history, languages, and different cultures. I am excited to be your ELA and/or Social Studies teacher. I have spent years exploring the world of language, the Humanities, and the Arts, and I enjoy bringing those stories to life in our classroom. Whether we are diving into great stories or investigating historical events, my goal is to help you see these subjects connect to the real world.
Teaching style
With 5 years of dedicated experience teaching ELA and Social Studies in a professional online U.S. Academy, I specialize in making learning interactive, relevant, and effective for students in grades 3-7. My goal is to foster a love for language while building the critical comprehension and thinking skills necessary for academic success. My approach is student-centered, structured yet flexible. I believe in explicit instruction. Before students engage with a text, I define the "what" and "why." I break down complex ELA skills into manageable steps. Guided Practice: This is the "We Do" phase. Here, I support students as they practice the skill and move from lecturer to facilitator, providing real-time corrective feedback. Application: This is where students show me what they've learned.
