About Rodrigo
Rodrigo Dias de Carvalho is an experienced English language educator with over 17 years of experience teaching ESL and English for academic and professional purposes in Brazil and the United States. He holds a BA and MA in Applied Linguistics and has taught a wide range of courses, including academic writing, reading, listening, oral communication, and business English. His professional interests include curriculum and course development, intercultural communication, and practical approaches to helping learners communicate effectively in academic and professional settings.
Teaching style
My teaching style is practical, student-centered, and communication-focused. I believe students learn language most effectively when they understand how it connects to situations they are likely to encounter outside the classroom. I combine clear instruction and structured practice with opportunities for students to apply what they learn through discussion, problem-solving, and authentic communication tasks. I also encourage learners to become more independent and reflective, helping them understand not only what works in English, but why it works and how they can adapt their communication to different academic, professional, and cultural contexts.
