I have been teaching English learners for over 15 years. Currently, I teach full time at a public middle school in Pennsylvania, and my students are between the ages of 10 and 15. In the past I have taught elementary, high school, and adult learners from all over the world. I love working with English learners. I love learning about their cultures, and I have made lasting long-term relationship with many of my students. I love when they get in touch with me years later and share their successes in life. I am a dedicated teacher, but I also love to joke around and have fun. It makes learning more beneficial to everyone!
I am a flexible and adaptable teacher who works with each individual student to set and achieve their language goals. If a student just wants a casual arrangement where we talk and practice English spontaneously, we can do that. If they want something more structured, here is what I would do: First, I would assess the student's current abilities in the four domains of language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. From there, I build an outline of a curriculum to address each student's specific needs. As I work with students, I am always informally assessing their abilities, which enables me to adjust future lessons in order to meet the changing needs of a learner. I am a fun teacher who likes to use humor and interactive, hands-on activities to engage my students in the learning process. Together, we work as a team to realize a student's full potential.webca
