About Darren

My professional journey spans over a decade of international ESL teaching experience across Spain, China, and Thailand. Armed with a BA (Hons) in Games Development from the University of West London and a 120-hour TEFL Certificate, I have worked with diverse learners ranging from young children to adults across CEFR levels A1 to C1. Whether teaching large-format public school classes of over 50 students, coaching professionals in Business and Travel English for English First, or delivering interactive lessons online through Novakid and LingoAce, I focus on communicative, project-based learning. I also integrate creative digital tools—like basic Scratch coding and computing concepts—to maximize student engagement. Beyond the classroom, my background includes preparing students for Cambridge B2–C1 exams, leading immersive English language camps, and directing extracurricular programs like Spanish language clubs. Outside of teaching, I pursue a variety of creative and technical interest

Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in communicative, project-based, and task-based learning methodologies designed to build real-life speaking confidence. Over more than a decade of international experience across Spain, China, and Thailand, I have taught diverse groups ranging from young children and teens to adult professionals (CEFR A1 to C1). Whether managing large classrooms of over 50 students, coaching corporate clients on workplace communication strategies, or delivering structured virtual lessons online, I focus on creating high-energy, engaging environments. To maximize student involvement and foster problem-solving skills, I incorporate interactive digital tools and computing concepts—such as basic Scratch coding—directly into my lessons.
